New Delhi. The central government said on Tuesday that in June 2025, India’s total GST collection was ₹ 1.85 lakh crore **, which is 6.2% more than last year. However, the figure was slightly lower than in May and April. The record ₹ 2.37 lakh crore was collected in April and ₹ 2.01 lakh crore GST in May.


According to the government, in June, all major components-CGST, SGST, IGST and cess have been recorded year-on-year. This collection has come on the occasion of completion of 8 years of implementation of GST in India.


Tax doubles in 8 years, FY25 became the most record braking year


According to government data, India’s total GST collection in FY 2024-25 (FY25) was ₹ 22.08 lakh crore. It is almost twice the ₹ 11.37 lakh crore (FY21) of 5 years ago.


A total of ₹ 20.18 lakh crore was collected in FY24. FY25 recorded an annual increase of 9.4%, it is the highest annual collection ever since GST is implemented (July 2017).


Some decline in monthly collection, but trends positive


Although the collection in June was lower than April and May, an increase from year to year, according to the government, reflects stability in economic activities and improvement in compliance.

The Finance Ministry said that on the completion of 8 years of GST, it is clear that this tax system has now matured. The number of taxpayers has increased, digital payment facilities have brought transparency and the process of revenue sharing between the Center-State has improved further.
