Kemi Badenoch accused Rachel Reeves of looking 'absolutely miserable' at PMQs today, as Keir Starmer refused to confirm she will keep her job.
The Chancellor had prominent bags under her eyes this lunchtime after seeing her welfare cut savings vanish during last night's Commons chaos.
The cuts were originally meant to save £5 billion a year, but a final U-turn by the Prime Minister 90 minutes before the crunch vote saw the bill gutted and all savings vanish, leaving the chancellor with an enormous blackhole to fill with taxes at the Budget later this year.
At PMQs, Kemi Badenoch kicked Labour's bruise, accusing the Chancellor of looking "absolutely miserable".
"She looks absolutely miserable! She looks absolutely miserable. Labour MPs are going on the record to say that the Chancellor is toast, and the reality is she is a human shield for his incompetence.
"In January he said she would be in post until the next election, will she really?"
The Prime Minister completely dodged the question, hitting back that Ms Badenoch "certainly won't".
Ms Badenoch picked up on this, noting: "How awful for the Chancellor that he couldn't confirm that she will stay in place."
Ms Reeves' appearance at PMQs sparked a flurry of online speculation, with GB News host Emily Carver claiming it looked like the Chancellor 'has been crying'.
She tweeted: "Rachel Reeves looks like she's been crying. I'm not surprised. After last night, she's the one who has to pick up the pieces."
