The restaurants that shut down in 2024 are Art di Daniele Sperindio, Chef Kang’s, Matera, Oshino, Poise, Shinji, Sommer, and Sushi Kimura, The Straits Times reported.

They were removed from this year’s Michelin Guide Singapore list following their closures.

The wave of closures has continued as Euphoria Restaurant, which had retained its one Michelin star, shut its doors on Aug. 2, while Alma by Juan Amador announced the closure of its Goodwood Park Hotel outlet on Aug. 15.

The number of restaurants awarded one Michelin star in this year’s guide thus dropped to 32, down from 42 last year, Channel News Asia reported.

Singapore’s acclaimed dining scene has been hit hard over the past year.

According to government data, food and beverage business closures have averaged 307 per month in 2025, compared to 254 in 2024 and about 230 in both 2023 and 2022.

The number of food businesses shut down last year, at 3,047, was already highest in nearly two decades, surpassed only in 2005 with 3,352 closures.

Analysts point to reduced consumer spending amid global economic uncertainty and a strong Singapore dollar, which has made overseas travel more attractive.

Competition is also intense, with about 300 new restaurants opening and roughly the same number closing each month.
