Mumbai rains: The torrential rains on Tuesday in the country’s financial capital Mumbai have worsened the situation of the city. In many areas of Mayanagari, heavy rains have caused water logging.
The Indian Meteorological Department i.e. IMD has issued a red alert for districts like Thane and Palghar for August 19, due to which a holiday has been announced in schools and colleges on Tuesday. Also, local trains and flights are delayed due to bad weather.
Indigo Airlines has issued a travel advisory regarding this. In which it is written that due to heavy rains in Mumbai, water logging and transportation are being seen on the roads reaching the airport. Due to which challenges to operational activities have arisen, which is delayed both Arrival and Departure and we are sorry for the inconvenience caused by it.
According to the information, 134.68 mm of rain was recorded in Mumbai on Monday and 105.70 mm on Sunday. Yasin Tadvi, the head of Thane Municipal Corporation i.e. TMC Disaster Management Cell, said that till 4.30 pm, Thane city received more than 100 mm of rain, but the situation is under control.
In view of the deteriorating weather conditions, the Brihanmumbai Metropolitan Municipality i.e. BMC has appealed to the public that until it is absolutely necessary, do not come out. For any emergency or official notification, you can contact BMC Main Control Room Helpline 1916, living in Mumbai.
IMD today issued a red alert in Mumbai, Satara Ghat, Raigad, Pune Ghat, Ratnagiri and Kolhapur. Also, an orange alert has been issued for many states including Palghar, Jalgaon, Sindhudurg, Thane, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Latur, Jalna, Chandrapur, Amravati and Gadchiroli.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has informed that on Monday, Mumbai received 177 mm of rain in the rain that lasted only 6 to 8 hours. According to IMD data, between 8.30 am and 8.30 pm, Vikhroli has recorded 139.5 mm, 128.5 mm in Juhu and 125 mm in Chembur. The weather is expected to remain the same till 20 August.
