Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott shared a health update with fans after discovering an abnormality in her armpit. The 29-year-old former Love Island contestant, who appeared as a contestant on the BBC dance show in 2023, took to social media to tell followers she had booked in for a full MRI body scan, having previously been diagnosed with osteoporosis. "I wouldn't say I'm massively health anxious as such. I'm not health anxious, I'm ... health conscious," she said in a clip posted to YouTube. However she did reveal there was one thing she wanted them to check out.
"I also have had this tiny little, it's not a lump, under like my armpit. I don't know if it's like a gland or something. Anyway, I'm going to ask them to scan that and check it. I slept not that well tonight, so I am a tired girlie today," she shared as she headed to the appointment.
The star admitted she had begun thinking about the scan over Christmas with her friend Daisy.
"We were talking about preventative health and getting on our A-game this year, and we got onto the subject of these scans. Both of us were like 'Let's do it together'," she said.
After seeing the scans advertised on Instagram she said it took a month to get booked in, but said she was "looking forward to the results".
She took viewers inside the clinic as she showed herself dressed in scrubs and described the procedure as a "nice, clean, simple experience."

Zara has been taking her health seriously since she was told she showed early warning signs of developing osteoporosis in November 2023. The condition causes fragile and easily breakable bones and usually happens after the menopause.
She let the news of her health woes slip during an Instagram Q&A session, with some of her 1.8 million followers.
One asked what her favourite coffee was, leading her to share she now chooses drinks to help her ward off the condition.
"I always have a skinny mocha!" she exclaimed, adding: "I used to be an almond milk gal but I recently found out that I have early signs of developing osteoporosis (my mum and nan both have it!) so I'm making switches to add more calcium into my diet!"
