T20 World Cup 2026, Afghanistan vs Canada : The third day match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 was played between Afghanistan and Canada at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 19 February. Afghanistan performed brilliantly in this match to win one-sided victory over Canada by 82 runs and put a sweet end to the tournament.

Strong batting by Afghanistan

Canada captain Dilpreet Bajwa won the toss and elected to bowl first, while Afghanistan were invited to bat. Batting first, Afghanistan set up a mountain of 200 runs by losing 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Ibrahim Zadran played a brilliant knock for the team. He hit an unbeaten 95 off 56 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes, failing to complete a century. While Sadiqullah Atal contributed 44 runs, Rahmanqullah Gurbaz scored 30 runs. Jaskaran Singh took 3 wickets for Canada. Dylan Helliger took a wicket.

Canada’s innings thundered

Chasing a target of 201, Canada got off to a poor start. The team lost their first wicket by 25 runs. Skipper Dilpreet Bajwa was dismissed for 13 runs. Wickets continued to fall and by the time the score reached 48, half the team had withdrawn. Saad Bin Zafar put up some resistance, scoring 28 runs to take the team past 100, but victory was a long way off. Canada could only score 118 for 8 in 20 overs. As a result, Afghanistan team won by 82 runs. Mohammad Nabi bowled brilliantly for Afghanistan. He took four wickets for just 7 runs in four overs. Captain Rashid Khan took two wickets, while Mujeeb ur Rehman and Azmatullah Umarzai took one each.
