India kept its hopes of the semi-finals alive by defeating Zimbabwe by 72 runs in the Super-8 match of the 2026 T20 World Cup. In this important match played at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Thursday, India set a big target of 257 runs in front of Zimbabwe in a ‘do or die’ situation. In reply, Zimbabwe team could score only 184 runs at the loss of six wickets.


Let us tell you, opener Brian Bennett performed brilliantly for Zimbabwe. He scored unbeaten 97 runs in 59 balls with the help of eight fours and six sixes, but single-handedly failed to lead the team to victory. Tadivanashe Marumani scored 20, captain Sikandar Raza scored 30, and Tony Munyonga scored 11 runs. Tashinga Musekiwa could score only seven runs and Dion Myers could score only six runs, while Ryan Burl was out without scoring any runs.


Let us tell you, India’s bowling was excellent. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets, while Akshar Patel, Shivam Dubey and Varun Chakraborty got one wicket each. India’s bowlers kept Zimbabwe in trouble while chasing runs and helped the team win.


Now India has to play its last Super-8 match against West Indies on March 1 in Kolkata. Whichever team wins this match will enter the semi-finals. India performed brilliantly in this match, but will have to defeat West Indies to reach the semi-finals.
