The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, officially opened a two-day Flower Festival organized by the NDMC at Connaught Place on Tuesday. This event features seasonal flowers and a floral exhibition themed around various concepts in the capital.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) commenced its celebration at Central Park, Connaught Place. The event kicked off with a brief ceremony attended by NDMC officials and local residents.

While congratulating the NDMC officials, the Chief Minister remarked that the council has played a vital role in enhancing Delhi's green and positive image.

Highlights of the Flower Festival

During the inauguration, the Chief Minister stated, “People used to travel to Kashmir to take pictures with tulips; now, they don’t need to go that far as tulips are abundantly available right here in central Delhi.”

Gupta added, “Whether it’s the G20 summit or the recently held AI India Impact Summit, the NDMC has done commendable work in keeping the area clean and planting thousands of tulips during major events.”

She encouraged other municipal bodies in Delhi to learn from the NDMC in creating more green spaces across the national capital.

A Vision for a Greener Delhi

The Chief Minister emphasized, “The NDMC has become a model municipal council for creating green spaces in the country. We aspire for all of Delhi to be lush and vibrant.”

She mentioned that if necessary, staff from the horticulture departments of other agencies would be sent for training under the NDMC. The Delhi government will provide all necessary resources to assist the NDMC in enhancing greenery throughout the city.

Later, she expressed on social media that the Flower Festival has transformed Connaught Place into a vibrant space for Holi celebrations.

Festival Features and Expectations

According to Gupta, this festival has become a lively celebration of colors, nature, and creativity. It includes various floral decorations, beautiful landscapes, and gardening presentations aimed at promoting urban gardening and environmental awareness.

NDMC officials noted that the festival will continue until March 4, and they anticipate a large turnout due to the event being open to the public over these two days.
