Thirthahalli: Residents of Annayya Gowda Layout in Ward No. 5 of Thirthahalli Town Panchayat have complained about severe drainage problems, which have led to foul smell and stagnant wastewater in the area.
According to local residents, drainage blockages in several parts of the town are not cleared quickly. As a result, wastewater flows on the roads for days and creates an unpleasant smell.
In Annayya Gowda Layout, sewage water is reportedly overflowing from the drainage system, spreading across the roads. Residents said that wastewater from septic pits is being released into the drains at night, which causes dirty water to flow along the entire stretch of the road.
Due to the strong foul smell, people living in the area said they are forced to cover their noses while moving around. Some residents said they even wear masks when walking in the locality.
The stagnant water in the drains has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, raising fears of diseases such as dengue and malaria among the residents.
