Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana teaser has been released, and it is getting mixed reactions from fans. Although it was released in India on April 2, the teaser had already been pre-reviewed in the US a few days earlier. This sparked backlash online, with many netizens expressing disappointment over the teaser being unveiled overseas first. Several also questioned the makers’ strategy behind prioritising an international preview, criticising the decision.

Now, producer Namit Malhotra has addressed the issue and revealed the reason behind the overseas reveal.

Namit Malhotra reveals why Ramayana first look was released overseas first

At the teaser launch in Mumbai, Namit Malhotra spoke about the issue surrounding the release of Ramayana teaser overseas first. Addressing the discussion, producer Namit said, “Don’t divide. This is not the time to be divisive. The Indian in the America are thanking and appreciating (us for having an event in the US), you need to understand the emotion of the Indian people over there.”

He further added, “There are Indians all over the world. We should not be divisive; that’s where we go wrong on Ramayana. There’s no division, it’s one world, one Ramayana and one Rama. The idea is to show it to the entire world. How do we bring awareness? Every Indian knows it (about Ramayana)."

Last week Ranbir Kapoor, Namita Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari had released the teaser in special screenings held across Los Angeles and New York.

Namit further explained that he wants the entire world to know about Ramayana. "Everybody should know about Ramayana. It’s harder for us in the middle of the shoot to stop work and go and meet people and spread awareness; we are not selling tickets”.
