There’s fresh buzz around Karan Johar making a comeback with a new season of his iconic chat show Koffee with Karan.

Industry chatter suggests that Jio Hotstar is currently in early-stage conversations with the filmmaker-host to bring back Koffee With Karan for a ninth season. If everything aligns, the new edition could arrive on screens by the end of the year.

Sources indicate that the platform sees strong value in the show’s format, especially in today’s digital ecosystem.

A source close to the development told Mid-Day, “Koffee with Karan delivers repeat value across clips and social media”. The show’s viral moments, candid celebrity interactions, and meme-worthy rapid-fire rounds have historically kept audiences engaged long after each episode airs.

However, the upcoming season, if greenlit, may not follow the exact same template. The makers are reportedly considering a refreshed format to match evolving viewer preferences.

“Karan is aware that the audience has changed. So, he may shorten the segments and make them more current. The guest list too will change with cross-industry pairings, South stars, OTT actors, and creators showing up on the couch. However, things are at an early stage. It's not a locked deal,” added the source.

If the plan materialises, fans can expect a more contemporary, fast-paced version of the show, featuring a diverse mix of guests from across industries, while still retaining the signature charm of candid conversations, gossip, and fun banter that Koffee with Karan is known for.

Meanwhile Karan Johar is also working as a producer on multiple movies including Kartik Aaryan’s NaagZilla, which will be his first creature comedy and introduce a new cinematic universe.

The Student Of The Year director is also gearing up for a romantic movie titled Chand Mera Dil starring Kill-fame Lakshay and Ananya Panday, which is expected to hit theatres this year.
