ITV have recommissioned a show despite accusations of bullying leading to over 11,000 Ofcom complaints. ITV2's Love Island: All Stars, hosted by Maya Jama, drew complaints over two episodes broadcast in February this year, which fans claimed featured bullying.
A total of 2,249 complaints were submitted to Ofcom about the episode that aired on 12 February. During the show, tensions flared after contestant Lucinda Stafford made comments about other girls in the villa during her recoupling speech, which some Islanders felt should have been focused solely on her relationship with Sean Stone. The situation escalated into a heated exchange between Lucinda and Belle Hassan. Later that evening, Jessy Potts confronted Lucinda, accusing her of "putting on a baby voice" and "ragebaiting". Following that incident, an additional 8,594 complaints were lodged over the episode broadcast on 13 February, with all relating to alleged bullying behaviour shown during the programme.
The complaints weren't the only issue facing the show, as winners Samie Elishi and Ciaran Davies, who garnered 35 per cent of the public vote, only lasted 15 days.
They became the fastest ever break-up in the show's history, beating the record set by 2019's Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea, who lasted five weeks after they were crowned winners.
However, despite all the controversies and the brevity of the winners' relationships, it has been confirmed that the show will return for a new season next year.
Bosses have already begun to discuss the logistics of the 2027 series, which features contestants from previous shows.
While it is all systems go for the show, the host Maya Jama, who is also a judge on ITV's The Masked Singer, hasn't yet signed on. It is believed she will sign on the dotted line later this year following contract negotiations.
The show is usually filmed in January at the Ludus Magnus estate in Franschhoek, South Africa. The luxury villa features multiple pools, a gym, and a revamped villa design.
The location is used for winter editions of the show due to its warmer climate in January.
Love Island All Stars is one of the broadcaster's biggest shows and has the largest 16-34 audience of any programme on a commercial channel. The 2026 season was streamed over 80million times.
