Nagaur Police EV PUC Challan: The number of electric cars is continuously increasing in India, but still many people do not have complete knowledge about their rules and regulations and how they work. A video related to this is becoming increasingly viral on social media these days, in which a case of challan being issued for an electric car has come to light. Actually, a strange incident has come to light during the challaning action of Nagaur city police, in which a challan was issued for a zero carbon emission Tata electric car for violating pollution standards. The video of the action is rapidly going viral on social media.
While traffic police typically issue fines for violating traffic rules, sometimes fines are issued without fault. One such case has come to light in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, where an electric car was fined for not having a pollution certificate (PUC). A video viral on social media shows a Tata Tiago EV car being fined for not having a PUC.
In the video, the car owner questions the policeman, asking how the vehicle is electric, causing pollution, and why the PUC is needed. In the video, the young man approaches policeman Rajkumar and asks the reason for the challan. He explains that it's an electric vehicle, which doesn't cause pollution. The policeman responds that his machine shows the vehicle's PUC certificate as "NIL," which is why he issued the challan.
Is PUC required for EV cars?EV cars, or electric vehicles, don't have an engine or silencer, so they don't emit any smoke or gases. According to many experts and RTO regulations, EV vehicles don't require a PUC, unlike petrol or diesel vehicles. Therefore, PUC is required for petrol or diesel vehicles.
