Nigel Farage hit out at a Channel 4 News reporter after they clashed over a question about Deputy Leader Richard Tice making a repayment to HMRC. Reporter Amelia Jane asked the MP: "You said that Richard Tice has paid the taxpayer back, why do you not know the exact figure?" She then asked if Farage would support him saying it on the record, and also questioned if he should be saying it on the record.

Farage snapped at her as he said: "Do give me a lecture on REITs and how they work would you? While we're here, give us the benefit of your knowledge on this. I'd be thrilled." When the reporter responded that she wasn't a tax expert, Farage immediately shut her down and said: "No and nor am I. Thank you."

The reporter then continued to push, telling Farage he must have asked Tice whether or not he has paid it back and how much, prompting Farage to state: "If our biggest critic, is Labour activist Dan Neidle, and he is a tax expert, he's good at it. If our biggest critic says that Richard Tice has not evaded or avoided tax, and actually maybe even a little bit more than the full amount, then I'm satisfied with that."

But he once against pushed that if she can "give him a lecture" on how it all works he would be delighted, telling her that it is an "incredibly complex piece of tax law". He added: "If our worst critic says there's nothing to see here, then I'm pleased."

However, Dan Neidle did respond in the comments to state he "didn't say that".

Viewers in the response were quick to notice Farage's "deflection" in the line of questioning, with one user writing: "The problem for farage is not that Tice may or may not have avoided tax, but that he gets so easily riled by questions he doesn't like. It's a very bad look and one that demonstrates that he's not suitable for public office."

Another warned: "He's so thin skinned, it won't be long before he says something he regrets." A third wrote: "Farage showing yet again how much he hates questions."

While a fourth compared him to Donald Trump and claimed the two are very similar in how they respond to questions.
