A brilliant spell from Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein has set up Chennai Super Kings’ 32-run victory against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14 at Chennai.
Noor Ahmad’s 3/21 and Akeal Hosein’s 1/26 did push the side to defend their total and seal their second win in the season.
After being invited to bat first, Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings while Vaibhav Arora opened the bowling attack. With a great start from Sanju Samson, Gaikwad lost his wicket to Anukul Roy for 7 Runs.
Ayush Mhatre, who came to bat at no.3, went on to slam 17-ball 38 runs before being dismissed by Vaibhav Arora. His knock included 6 fours and 2 sixes. By the end of powerplay, CSK scored 72 runs for two wickets.
Sanju Samson and Dewald Brevis are aiming to forge a partnership aiming to post a mammoth total against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Chennai.
The duo forged a 39-run partnership before Kartik Tyagi bowled out Sanju Samson for 48 runs.
Sarfaraz Khan who came to bat, scored only 23 runs off 18 deliveries before being dismissed by Sunil Narine.
With Kartik Tyagi bagged the wicket of Dewald Brevis for 41 runs, Shivam Dube and Jamie Overton completed the innings as Chennai Super Kings posted 192/5 at Chennai.
Shivam Dube remained unbeaten with 13 while Jamie Overton scored 7* runs. Karti Tyagi bagged two wickets while Vaibhav Arora, Anukul Roy and Sunil Narine bagged a wicket each.
Chasing the 193 run target, Finn Allen and Sunil Narine opened the innings while Khaleel Ahmed opened the bowling attack.
The CSK bowlers has been impressive from the very start of the innings, as Anshul Kamboj picked the wicket of Finn Allen for 1 run. With Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Sunil Narine on a full and outside the leg-stump delivery where Gurjapneet Singh caught the wicket at short third man.
Angkrish Raguvanshi and Ajinkya Rahane did make a decent partnership as KKR scored 36 runs in the powerplay.
Akeal Hosein bagged the wicket of Angkrish Raghuvanshi for 27 runs while Noor Ahmed came to bowl his second over. With four good deliveries, Noor Ahmed strikes to bag Ajinkya Rahane for 28 runs. He also picked the wicket of Cameron Green on Golden duck in the final delivery.
Noor Ahmad bagged his third wicket dismissing Rinku Singh for 6 runs putting Kolkata Knight Riders on tough spot as they lost 6 wickets for 90 runs.
However, Rovman Powell and Ramandeep Singh did forge a 63-run partnership before Anshul Kamboj picked the wicket of Ramandeep for 35 runs.
By the end of 20 overs, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 160 runs for 7 wickets. Powell remained unbeaten with 31* runs. Chennai Super Kings secured a 32-run victory as Noor Ahmad picked three wickets in his four over spell.
Anshul kamboj bagged two wickets while Khaleel Ahmed and Akeal Hosein bagged one wicket each.
Chennai Super Kings will play their next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18 at Hyderabad.
