Announcement of ‘Central Contract’

‘MCA’, the most successful cricket association in the country, has taken a revolutionary decision to give an annual contract (Central Contract) to its players. The implementation of this system will start from the upcoming season 2026-27. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) On the ground itself, MCA will divide its players into 3 different categories, according to which they will be paid a certain annual amount.

‘These’ are the important terms for the contract

The proposal was approved in the recently held meeting of the MCA. However, not all players will get this contract. There are some special criteria for this. Players must be registered players of MCA. Players who have not been selected in the Indian team for 2 consecutive seasons or who have not been bought by any team in 2 consecutive IPL auctions will be eligible for this contract. The main objective of this is to provide financial stability to players who do not get income from IPL or Team India. Only those players who meet the strict fitness criteria as recommended by the Selection Committee and set by the MCA will be included in the list.

Nature and Range of Annual Remuneration

Like the BCCI, the MCA has also fixed three categories of remuneration which will be as follows:

1. Grade A: Players in this category will get an annual salary of Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

2. Grade B: These players will be paid Rs 8 lakh to 12 lakh per annum.

3. Grade C: Players in this category will get a fixed salary of Rs 8 lakh per annum.

Important Note: This will be different from the ‘match fee’ that players receive on an annual contract. This means that the players will continue to receive the match remuneration received separately after playing in tournaments like Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The first organization in the country

In this way Mumbai Cricket Association has become the first state association in the country to implement annual contract system for local players. It is believed that this decision will not only provide financial security to Mumbai cricketers, but will also help them to be more consistent and professional in their performance.
