The famous ‘Slapgate’ controversy of 2008 IPL has once again come into limelight. This time the reason has been former Indian fast bowler S. Sreesanth, who has made a claim which has created a stir on social media. According to him, Harbhajan Singh has earned a huge amount through an advertisement to this old controversy. In a recent interview, S. Sreesanth said that Harbhajan Singh made an advertisement based on the ‘Slapgate’ controversy, which earned him around Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1 crore.

Sreesanth alleges that Harbhajan had also asked him to share this advertisement on his Instagram account. However, Sreesanth clearly rejected this request. He says that he never raised this issue himself, but now he does not find it right to bring it up again and again.

Sreesanth spoke openly in the interview

While talking to Malayalam media ‘Mathrubhoomi’, Sreesanth said that he had never spoken openly about Harbhajan before. He said, “There was no problem till now, but when they again made an advertisement on this issue, I did not find it right.” Sreesanth also told that Harbhajan had called him and asked him to promote this advertisement, which he refused.

‘Forgiven, but not forgotten’

Sreesanth made his feelings clear and said that he has definitely forgiven Harbhajan, but has never forgotten that incident. He said, “If someone does wrong to you, you should forgive him, but you should not forget him. If you forget, the same mistake can be repeated.” He believes that this incident is an example of that and he cannot ignore it.

distance in relationships

S. Sreesanth also made it clear that he no longer has any personal relationship with Harbhajan Singh. He said that earlier he used to call him ‘brother’, but now the situation has completely changed. He told that after the recent advertisement he has blocked Harbhajan on Instagram. This clearly shows the sourness in their relationship.

Expressed displeasure regarding personal life also

Sreesanth also alleged that in many interviews, Harbhajan talked about his family, especially his daughter, which he did not like at all. He said that a person may look good from outside, but their experiences are different. He also added that he no longer has any expectations or needs from Harbhajan and he has moved forward in his life.

What was the ‘Slapgate’ controversy?

It is noteworthy that during the first season of IPL in 2008, S. Sreesanth was playing for Kings XI Punjab, while Harbhajan Singh was part of Mumbai Indians. During the same time, Harbhajan was accused of slapping Sreesanth after a match, which was named ‘Slapgate’. This matter was in a lot of controversies at that time and now once again it has come into discussion due to new allegations.
