A DP World Tour event winner will have to compete at the PGA Championship without his caddie. Mikael Lindberg, 33, is set to feature in next week's major for the very first time in his career.

Unfortunately for him, visa complications have handed him an unwelcome setback. The Swede has discovered he will have to take part in the competition, which carries a first prize of just over £2.5million, without his trusted caddie by his side. Lindberg's right-hand man, Armstrong Mdludi, will not have sufficient time to apply for and secure a visa to enter the United States. Consequently, the South African will not be walking the fairways alongside Lindberg when the tournament tees off at Aronimink Golf Club next week.

Speaking about the unfortunate predicament, Lindberg said: "I would have loved to have him with me, but now that it wasn't possible, I feel it's nice to have someone who knows my game and has been there before."

Nevertheless, Lindberg will not be short of support on the bag. The Swede will be able to draw on the knowledge and experience of close friend Jacob Glennemo.

Glennemo, 38, is a former professional golfer who once reached 382nd in the world rankings. He also brings caddying experience to the table, having previously worked with Swedish golf star Simon Forsström.

After revealing Glennemo will be on the bag, Lindberg said: "He was a caddie for Simon Forsström and was at the US Open a few years ago. He still has some experience; I think he will be good."

While Lindberg will undoubtedly miss Mdludi by his side, his confidence in his own game will remain undiminished as he heads into the major. A pivotal victory on the DP World Tour at the 2026 Turkish Airlines Open proved the catalyst for securing his place at the PGA Championship.

Reflecting on that momentous triumph, Lindberg said: "This is a dream come true, I've been dreaming about this for so many years. My feelings on this last hole, I almost felt dizzy and I almost felt I wanted to throw up."

He added: "I was in the lead after the first round and I just felt like... I don't know how to describe this, but it's been mentally very tough pretty much the whole week. So it's very nice to pull it off.

"The weather on the front nine was actually a lot better than I expected, so I felt like I took advantage of that a little bit. It's been a very tough last few holes but the last one was definitely tough."
