NEET UG Exam Canceled: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2026. This decision has raised numerous questions, affecting approximately 22.79 lakh candidates. The exam was scheduled to take place on the planned date, but NTA received a letter that prompted this sudden change. With the approval of the Government of India, the NTA has decided to cancel the NEET UG 2026 exam, which was set for May 3, 2026, and will reschedule it for later notified dates.

The testing agency stated that this decision was made based on inputs reviewed by NTA in coordination with central agencies and findings shared by law enforcement agencies.

CBI Takes Over the Investigation

The Government of India has also decided to hand over this matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough investigation into the allegations. On May 6, NTA released the provisional answer key for NEET UG. According to official data, the exam was conducted across 5,432 centers in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad, with around 22.79 lakh registered candidates, making NEET UG one of the largest entrance examinations globally.

NTA's Preparations in Vain

Previously, NTA had announced through a press release that over 6,000 supervisors were deployed for independent monitoring at exam centers. More than 200,000 personnel were assigned to ensure the smooth conduct of the NEET UG 2026 exam.

Letter Received by SOG Team

It is noteworthy that the SOG team received a handwritten suggestion letter containing several questions related to the NEET exam. Some reports indicate that 120 of these questions matched the actual paper, with 90 from biology and 30 from chemistry. This paper leak incident has raised significant concerns regarding the examination process.

What’s Next?

For the affected students, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon announce the dates for the re-examination. NTA has stated that this decision was made in the interest of students and to maintain trust in the national examination system.

The agency acknowledged on social media that the rescheduling of the exam would cause genuine inconvenience to candidates and their families. NTA does not take this outcome lightly, emphasizing that this decision was made to prevent more significant and lasting damage to trust.

Official notifications regarding the re-examination dates and the schedule for reissued admit cards will be released through the agency's official channels.
