Knews DeskAmidst the news regarding LPG supply in the country, the Central Government has clarified the situation and said that there is no shortage of LPG in the country. The Petroleum Ministry has rejected the report of Nikkei Asia, which had predicted a huge reduction in LPG supply.

Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Petroleum Ministry, issued a statement saying that the government is fully monitoring the situation and the supply of domestic LPG remains normal. He said that LPG production in the country has been increased to about 46 thousand to 47 thousand tonnes per day.

According to the government, in the last three days, 1.34 crore domestic cylinders were delivered against 1.32 crore LPG bookings. It is clear from this that the supply chain is fully active and consumers are not being allowed to face any kind of problem.

Hormuz Strait becomes cause for concern

The government also admitted that India imports about 60 percent of its LPG requirement. About 90 percent of this supply has been coming through the Strait of Hormuz. In view of the recent global tensions and the situation in West Asia, there was a possibility that the supply would be affected.

However, the government says that many effective steps have already been taken to deal with the possible crisis. According to officials, continuous work is being done on alternative supply arrangements and increasing domestic production, so that the common people are not affected in any way.

Appeal to avoid rumors

The Petroleum Ministry has appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumors and not to book more cylinders than necessary. The government says that there is sufficient LPG stock in the country and the supply will remain normal in the coming days also.

After this statement of the government, the concern among consumers regarding LPG supply seems to be reducing to some extent.
