A big revelation has come to light in the Badlapur IVF racket case of Maharashtra. The police filed a 5000-page charge sheet in a court in Ulhasnagar. It was revealed that a woman donated her eggs illegally 37 times. Whereas in India it is illegal to donate eggs more than once. Later this woman became an agent and started recruiting other women into her gang.
Investigation revealed that women used to get Rs 25,000-30,000 once for donating eggs. Hormonal injections were given to women without supervision. Later these eggs were sold for lakhs of rupees.
After 88 days of investigation, the police has filed the charge sheet. In this, 15 people including five doctors have been made accused. Eight people have been arrested so far. They have been found to have direct links with the gang. Notice has been sent to seven other people. The charge sheet mentions donation of around 250 eggs by 25 witnesses and 30 women.
Police are investigating the financial transactions between 30 doctors and the victims. It was revealed that the same woman was forced to donate eggs multiple times in IVF clinics in Baramati, Pune, Thane and Mumbai. Apart from Dr. Amol Patil, who runs an IVF center in Nashik, three female agents and seven accused were arrested. This gang targeted poor women. They were forced to sell their eggs illegally by luring them Rs 25 to 30 thousand.
Women were given hormonal injections without any medical supervision. The eggs were taken to the IVF center and later sold for lakhs of rupees. Police believe that Dr. Amol Patil played an important role in coordinating the entire case. Let us tell you that in the month of March this year, the Health Department team had raided Bhagwan Hospital located in Ulhasnagar. Illegal sonography to IVF network used to take place here.
