New Delhi: The weather is going to take a sudden turn in Delhi and surrounding areas. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the capital and warned that a strong dust storm may hit in the next few hours. It is being told that this storm originated from the western direction and is rapidly crossing Rajasthan and Haryana and moving towards Delhi-NCR.

When is it most effective?

According to the Meteorological Department, a dust storm may reach Delhi within the next three hours. It is estimated that its maximum impact will be seen between 8 pm and 10 pm. During this time, clouds of dust can spread across the entire area with strong winds, due to which people may have to face many problems.

Experts say that during this storm the wind speed can reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Due to strong winds, visibility on the road may be reduced and drivers have been advised to exercise caution. A thick layer of dust may cover the sky, making the atmosphere appear hazy.

The impact of this changing weather will not be limited only to visibility, but will also affect air quality. Amidst the already deteriorating air, dust storms can further increase pollution levels. The Meteorological Department and pollution control agencies believe that there is a possibility of a decline in the Air Quality Index (AQI), which may increase the problems of people with respiratory problems.

Delhi is also in the grip of extreme heat these days. On Sunday, the maximum temperature of the capital was recorded at 43.6 degrees Celsius, which is much higher than normal. The continuously increasing heat and intense sunlight has made the condition of the people miserable. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning that heatwave conditions will continue for the next three days.

What do the experts say?

The temperature in Delhi-NCR has remained above 40 degrees Celsius for the last several days. Experts say that the impact of hot winds and dusty weather may increase further in the coming days. However, due to strong storms and winds, a slight drop in temperature may be felt for some time.

The administration has appealed to the people to avoid coming out of their homes during bad weather. Especially children, elderly and respiratory patients have been advised to take extra precautions. Drivers have also been asked to drive slowly and remain alert.
