Lucknow captain and Rs 27 crore player Rishabh Pant has left the captaincy of Lucknow Super Giants. This season, Lucknow Super Giants are out of IPL 2026, but next season Rishabh Pant will not be seen captaining Lucknow Super Giants. Lucknow Super Giants franchise has tweeted and informed that Rishabh Pant has decided to leave his captaincy responsibilities to the team, which has been accepted by the team.

Lucknow Super Giants wrote in its tweet that “Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) would like to formally announce that Rishabh Pant has requested the franchise to step down from the captaincy and the franchise has accepted his request with immediate effect.

Director of Cricket Tom Moody wrote, “Rishabh has approached the franchise in this regard and we have respectfully accepted it. These decisions are never easy. We are grateful to Rishabh for everything he has contributed to this dressing room as captain. Our focus now is on the collective development of the team. Rebuilding and restructuring the team to reach the best standards is also our next goal.

Let us tell you that in IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) consistently performed poorly and won only four out of 14 matches and finished 10th and last on the points table with eight points. Rishabh Pant was included in their team by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2025 IPL auction at a price of Rs 27 crore and had high expectations from him. However, even in IPL 2025, neither did Rishabh Pant perform well throughout the season nor did he perform well in the team.
