Former veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has raised questions on the selectors regarding the selection of the Indian T20 team for the tour of Ireland and England. He seemed especially angry with Rajat Patidar not getting a place in the team. Harbhajan believes that ignoring Patidar despite his excellent performance in the IPL is beyond comprehension.

Rajat Patidar performed well with the bat in IPL 2026. He scored more than 500 runs in 15 matches and his strike rate was around 193. Under his captaincy, Royal Challenger Bangalore also won the title for the second consecutive time. Despite this, his name was not included in the T20 team announced for the tour of Ireland and England. Although the selection committee of BCCI has taken some surprising decisions, World Cup winning captain Surya Kumar was removed from the captaincy and he also did not get a place in the team. In his place, Shreyas Iyer, who is out of T20 since 2023, has been given the command of the team. Whereas 15 year old Vaibhav has got entry in Team India.

Expressing his displeasure on social media, Harbhajan Singh said that Patidar has left no stone unturned in proving himself. According to him, he is one of the most reliable middle order batsmen in the country at the moment and he should have got a chance.

At the same time, Harbhajan welcomed the selection of 15-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He called it a positive sign for Indian cricket.
