Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has made a major change in the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme. Now, under this scheme, instead of giving silver anklets and rings to the daughters getting married, the amount worth them will be sent directly to the bank account. The government has taken this decision in view of the rising prices of silver and the difficulties in purchasing it.
A new order has been issued by the Social Welfare Department regarding this change. After the implementation of the new system, women taking advantage of the marriage scheme will get more cash assistance than before.
Now more money will come into the bride’s account
Under the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme, earlier a total of Rs 1 lakh was spent on a couple. Out of this, Rs 60 thousand was sent to the bride’s bank account. At the same time, about 25 thousand rupees were kept for the necessary materials and gifts to the wedding, while the remaining amount was spent on the arrangements. Now the prescribed amount for purchasing anklets and toe rings will also be sent directly to the bride’s account. After this, a total of Rs 64 thousand will be transferred to the bank account of the beneficiary.
What is Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme?
Chief Minister Collective Marriage Scheme is run with the aim of providing assistance in marriage of daughters of economically weaker families. Apart from the daughters of poor families, the benefit of this scheme is also given to widows and divorced women. Through this scheme, the government works to reduce the expenses of marriage and provide financial help to needy families.
Daughters and families will get relief
With the cash coming directly into the account, the beneficiaries will get the facility to spend as per their need. This will also reduce the financial burden of marriage on families. This change of the government is being considered as a step towards making the scheme more easy and transparent.
