Why is Ayush Mhatre at the BCCI CoE?
Ayush Mhatre is currently at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, undergoing medical rehabilitation after suffering a serious left hamstring tear.
The 18-year-old India U19 World Cup-winning captain sustained the injury on April 18, 2026, while batting as an Impact Player for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The severe tear prematurely ended his breakout IPL 2026 campaign, forcing him into a 6 to 12-week rehabilitation period overseen by the BCCI medical team.
Why did Virat Kohli visit the Bengaluru CoE?
Virat Kohli has been out of competitive cricket since the 2026 IPL final after he sustained a hamstring injury while batting. He missed the Afghanistan series due to the opening space for Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a ton in the final series.
Kohli went through rehabilitation in London while staying in touch with the BCCI. He was supposed to visit CoE late June.
After checking into the Bengaluru facility, Kohli successfully passed his comprehensive fitness tests. The medical team has given him the green light, fully clearing the path for his anticipated return to the squad for the three-match ODI series in England starting July 14, 2026.
