On Sunday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami officially opened a cutting-edge Sports Complex in Roorkee, a project developed by the Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) at a cost of ₹3.75 crore. During the inauguration, CM Dhami toured the facility, assessed the sports infrastructure, and engaged with both athletes and coaches, as reported by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Office.
In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the ongoing efforts of the state government to enhance sports and provide top-notch facilities for athletes throughout Uttarakhand. He stressed the importance of modern sports infrastructure in cultivating young talent, noting that facilities are being expanded in every district to ensure that both rural and urban athletes have access to quality training and practice.
CM Dhami remarked that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, sports have acquired a renewed identity and momentum nationwide. He affirmed that the Uttarakhand government is dedicated to supporting athletes through its sports policy, which aims to bolster training facilities and provide comprehensive assistance to those excelling at national and international levels.
The Chief Minister noted that the newly inaugurated Sports Complex will serve athletes from Haridwar, Roorkee, and surrounding regions by offering modern training amenities. He expressed optimism that this facility would inspire increased youth participation in sports and enhance their performance in competitions, ultimately bringing recognition to the state.
The newly established Sports Complex features state-of-the-art indoor sports facilities, including a fully equipped gymnasium, badminton courts, and other essential sports infrastructure. This venue will be crucial for regular practice sessions, professional training, and hosting various sporting events and competitions.
