If you are planning to visit a bank branch this week for services such as cash deposits, KYC updates, cheque clearance, demand drafts, or account-related work, it is advisable to check the holiday schedule first. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks across different states will remain closed on several days this week due to regional festivals and regular weekend holidays.

Overall, banks will observe 12 holidays across various parts of the country during July 2026, including Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays, and state-specific festival holidays. While digital banking services will continue without interruption, branch operations will remain suspended on designated holidays.

Four Bank Holidays Scheduled This Week

Between July 7 and July 12, banks in different states will remain closed for four days. However, not every holiday applies nationwide, as some are limited to specific states.

July 9 – Banks Closed in Meghalaya

Banks in Shillong, Meghalaya, will remain closed on Thursday, July 9, on account of the Beh Deinkhlam Festival, a traditional cultural celebration observed in the state.

Customers in other states can continue banking operations as usual.

July 11 – Second Saturday Holiday

On Saturday, July 11, all public and private sector banks across India, including State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Canara Bank, and other scheduled banks, will remain closed due to the Second Saturday, as per RBI guidelines.

July 12 – Weekly Sunday Closure

Banks throughout the country will remain closed on Sunday, July 12, as part of the regular weekly holiday.

Regional Holidays Continue Later in July

Apart from the weekend closures, several regional holidays will also affect banking services in different states later this month.

July 16

Banks will remain closed in selected cities including:

  • Bhubaneswar (Odisha) – Rath Yatra

  • Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – Harela Festival

  • Imphal (Manipur) – Kang (Rath Yatra)

July 17

Banks in Shillong, Meghalaya, will remain closed to observe the death anniversary of U Tirot Sing.

July 18

Banks in Gangtok, Sikkim, will remain closed on the occasion of Drukpa Tshe-zi.

July 22

Banks in Agartala, Tripura, will observe a holiday for Kharchi Puja.

Weekend Bank Holidays in July 2026

In addition to festival-related holidays, banks will remain closed on the following nationwide weekends:

  • Sundays: July 5, 12, 19, and 26

  • Second Saturday: July 11

  • Fourth Saturday: July 25

These closures apply to scheduled commercial banks across the country.

Digital Banking Services Will Continue

Although bank branches remain closed on holidays, customers can continue using digital banking services without interruption.

The following services will remain available:

  • Internet Banking

  • Mobile Banking Apps

  • NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS fund transfers

  • UPI payments through Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and BHIM

  • ATM cash withdrawals

  • Balance enquiry and mini statements

  • Online bill payments and utility payments

Customers can therefore complete most routine banking transactions without visiting a physical branch.

Plan Your Banking Activities in Advance

If you need services that require visiting a bank branch—such as document verification, locker access, KYC updates, account opening, or demand draft issuance—it is recommended to complete them on working days before the scheduled holidays.

Since holiday schedules vary from one state to another, customers should also verify the applicable holiday list for their city before planning a branch visit.
