Smriti Mandhana had her chance to score a century in the first-ever Women's Test match at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground. But Issy Wong shatters the dream. The Indian women's team is in London under Harmanpreet Kaur's leadership playing a one-off Test match.

On Day 1, Mandham was batting brilliantly, in her 80s on July 10, 2026. She effortlessly anchored a 64-run partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues (35), followed by a massive recovery stand alongside skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

Driving, cutting, and punishing every loose English delivery, Mandhana slammed 11 boundaries and 1 six, cruising smoothly toward what seemed to be an inevitable, career-defining international century.

The defining factor arrived right after a brief break in play in the afternoon session. Breaks often disrupt a batter's ironclad focus, and England pacer Issy Wong capitalized perfectly.

Stepping up in the 45th over, Wong found a subtle variation in bounce or pace that forced the Indian vice-captain out of her well-established rhythm.

Looking to guide or nudge a delivery away, Mandhana mistimed her stroke completely. The ball caught the edge of her blade and flew straight into the hands of English wicketkeeper Amy Jones.
