Now in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026 to be held on July 20 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Spain will face the winner of the second semi-final between Argentina and England to be held at the Atlanta Stadium on July 16. European champion Spain is unbeaten in the last 37 matches. The team has conceded only one goal in seven matches so far in the tournament. Even against France, its strong defense line did not give any chance to the opposition team.

Oyarzabal gave the lead on penalty

Spain got the lead in the 22nd minute. French defender Lucas Dinye fouled Lamin Yamal, after which the referee gave a penalty. Mikel Oyarzabal converted the penalty to give Spain a 1-0 lead. This was Oyarzabel’s 5th goal in the tournament. At the end of the first half of the first semi-final, Spain had a one-goal lead over France and it was expected that Kylian Mbappe’s team would make a comeback in the second half.

    Pedro Porro doubled Spain’s lead

In the 58th minute of the second half, Spain scored the second goal through a brilliant move. Daniel Olmo created a chance for Pedro Porro with an excellent pass. Poro took full advantage of this opportunity and scored a calm goal to give Spain a 2-0 lead over France. France tried its best to make a comeback, but its players did not fare well against Spain’s disciplined defense.

Spain in the World Cup final for the second time

France, the 2018 world champion and 2022 runner-up, was in excellent form throughout the tournament. Till the semi-finals, he scored 16 goals in six matches and conceded only two goals. But against Spain the team could not maintain the rhythm in the entire match. Coach Didier Deschamps made several changes in the second half, but none of the strategies worked. The Spanish team, which won its first World Cup in 2010, is now just one step away from winning the title for the second time in 2026.
