India opener Rohit Sharma is again viral on social media after a video emerged of him dismissing reports about the end of his time in the ODIs. The video came in before the third ODI against England at Lord’s, where it was speculated the match might be Rohit’s last.

However, it was the opening batter who was seen having a chat with India's batting coach, Sitanshu Kotak in the video. The veteran opener seemed unfazed by all the chatter about his future outside the team camp.

Rohit can be heard saying, "Hum log ko bahar kya chal raha hai, us se humko kya (We have nothing to do with what is going on outside)."

The statement soon did the rounds on social media, with the fans believing it to be Rohit's reply to the retirement speculations that have been making the rounds for the last couple of days.

BCCI Dismisses Retirement Reports

The news has led to a debate about Rohit's future. It was believed that the Lord's ODI could be the 39-year-old's last game for India in international cricket.

But BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia denied these reports and said that no such decision has been made by the BCCI.

As far as Saikia is concerned, he is still an active member of India's ODI team and will continue playing for the country as long as he is a part of the selectors' plan.

The revelation followed numerous speculations about the senior striker's potential retirement after the respective series in England.

Rohit Remains a Key Figure for India

There have also been revelations that the selection committee members had spoken to Rohit ahead of the Afghanistan series to tell him that he is no longer part of the long-term plans. It has also been reported that head coach Gautam Gambhir was privy to these discussions.

Nonetheless, Rohit was included in the Afghanistan and England one-day teams.

How good is the veteran opener? Still one of India's top three batters in ODIs, with 11,709 runs, he was a key figure in India's run to the 2023 ODI World Cup final-and captained the team to the 2025 Champions Trophy victory, before handing the reins to Shubman Gill.

Ahead of India's series-decider at Lord's, Rohit's "Humko Kya" comment has surfaced as one of the biggest talking points, as the veteran batter proclaimed that he's dismissing all the speculation around his future.
