Unlike Mayank and Ashok, Yash Thakur’s entry has been more about steady grind rather than one explosive highlight. The right-arm fast bowler picked up 18 wickets in only seven matches in the last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His ball-by-ball consistency was enough to convince the selectors to finally give him his first India call-up.

 

Yash might not be the quickest bowler in the group, but his ability to take wickets, and bowl effectively in different match situations, makes him a pretty intriguing option for India.

“I don’t think they should fear failure. Because when you have such thoughts in the back of your mind, then you play to save yourself. When you don’t have the thought of fear of failure, then you can get the best out of yourself.”

 

The captain’s message felt straightforward: he wants the newcomers to stick to confidence, and play their own games instead of constantly thinking about mistakes.

 

India are moving into a new T20 cycle now, and this series offers the coaching staff a chance to spot who might become regulars in the squad.
