Due to the effect of monsoon winds across the country, the weather has become very aggressive. From UP to Gujarat and Assam, rivers are in spate and flood like situations have arisen in many districts. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the latest weather bulletin for the country including Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. More than 20 states and union territories An alert has been issued for heavy to extremely heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a risk of exceptionally heavy rains in Gujarat and Central Maharashtra due to the low-pressure area formed in south-eastern Rajasthan and surrounding areas.

Record breaking rain in last 24 hours

According to IMD data, record-breaking extraordinary rainfall of up to 230 cm was recorded at some places in Gujarat region in the last 24 hours.

  Extremely heavy rainfall (21 cm): Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Saurashtra and Kutch.

Detailed region wise weather forecast and alerts

1. West India: Red alert in Gujarat and Maharashtra

Due to the depression over south-eastern Rajasthan, exceptionally heavy rainfall is likely over Gujarat state on 24 and 25 July. The rainy season will continue in Saurashtra-Kutch till 26th July and in Gujarat region till 27th July. An alert of extremely heavy rain has been issued in Central Maharashtra, while Konkan and Goa will see heavy to very heavy rains till July 25.

2. North-West India: Condition of Delhi, UP and hill states

  Hill State: Rain will continue at most places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir till July 30. Extremely heavy rain is expected in Uttarakhand from 27 to 29 July.

  Plains: There is a possibility of very heavy rain in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on July 28 and 29.

  Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rain is forecast in Western UP on July 29-30 and in Eastern UP on July 28-29.

  Rajasthan: Eastern and Western Rajasthan will see heavy rain with winds at the speed of 30-40 km/hr on July 24-25.

  
  

3. Central India: MP and Chhattisgarh

There is an alert of widespread and heavy rain in Western and Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during July 26 to 30. Vidarbha region may receive torrential rains on July 28 and 29.

4. Eastern and North-Eastern India

Heavy rain with thunderstorms and squall winds of 30-40 km/hr will continue over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand till July 28. Heavy to very heavy rain has been warned in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh till July 30.

5. South India: Thunderstorm and lightning alert

Rains will continue in coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe till July 30. Apart from this, an alert has been issued for strong storm with speed of 40 to 50 km/hr (gusts up to 60 km/hr) and lightning in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
