Delhi: South Africa’s star fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is excited about next year’s ICC ODI World Cup. The 2027 World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The South African team will benefit from playing in front of their home crowd. However, Rabada believes that playing at home will not put any additional pressure on the team.

Speaking at an event in Johannesburg, Rabada said he wasn’t feeling any pressure about the tournament. He said playing at home meant protecting the field while being among his own people.

Speaking about his most special World Cup memory, Rabada cited legendary Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram. He was deeply impressed by Akram’s bowling against England in the 1992 World Cup final.

According to Rabada, Akram’s pace, control, and aggressive approach changed the course of that match. His performance remains an inspiration for fast bowlers even today.

Confidence of winning the World Cup increased

South Africa have proven their potential by winning the World Test Championship in 2025. Rabada believes the team is now better equipped to handle pressure in big matches.

He said the team has the experience of reaching the semifinals and finals. Now, all that’s needed is to cross the final hurdle. Rabada is confident that South Africa will be ready to win the 2027 World Cup with full strength.
