Automobile Desk: There may be a fierce competition in the mid-size SUV segment of the Indian automobile market in the coming times. Leading automobile manufacturers Hyundai and Kia are planning to introduce two completely new models to strengthen their hold in this segment. Industry experts believe that with the arrival of these vehicles, it will provide a direct challenge to popular cars like Maruti Victoris, which will provide better options and modern options to the customers.

According to reports, the new SUV that Hyundai is working on may be inspired by the platform of 'Hyundai Bayon' present in the global market. The company can place it in the bracket between its existing Venue and Creta, so that a new price-point can be created.

Talking about engine and performance, this new Hyundai vehicle can be given a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Along with this, the company can also offer the option of factory-fitted CNG for customers looking for fuel savings and low running costs. This CNG kit can be set in the lower part of the car in such a way that it does not affect the boot space much. For transmission, it is expected to get a standard manual gearbox as well as a CVT automatic transmission in the petrol variant.

The latest features will be taken care of in the cabin of this approximately 4.18 meter long SUV. In this, a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, fully digital instrument cluster, front and rear parking sensors and the company's signature 'BlueLink' connected car technology can be seen.

On the other hand, Kia is also preparing to play its new bet in this segment. This new SUV from Kia will be approximately 4.2 meters long in size and will be positioned slightly below the Seltos. It is believed that its design and interior layout will be largely inspired by Seltos.

Kia can offer this car with different types of powertrain options. Along with the initial options of petrol and diesel, hybrid and fully electric (EV) versions can also be included in the future. Ventilated seats, sunroof, digital driver display, multiple airbags and many other premium facilities can be provided in this car.

With the arrival of these two vehicles, the competition in the mid-size SUV segment is going to be very interesting. However, a formal announcement is still awaited about when the companies will officially launch them in the market and what their prices will be.
