The Golden State Warriors didn’t do much to improve their roster this offseason.

They didn’t seem to have a plan B if they didn’t land LeBron James, and so far, they have added zero outside free agents to the mix.

That has prompted some speculation regarding Stephen Curry’s future with the organization, given that he’s entering the final year of his contract.

Considering that, NBA insider Sean Deveney considered all potential options for Curry and his impending two-year contract extension. Notably, not signing one might actually be the best path forward for both parties.

Steph Curry could ‘help’ the Warriors by not signing an extension

Curry has always been loyal to the Warriors, and while this would certainly put the fans and the organization on edge, he’d likely be in constant communication with them.

Of course, that won’t stop other teams from trying to pry him away from the Bay Area, whether it’s with a trade or by trying to recruit him as an impending free agent.

The Warriors may not be a top-tier team right now, but they still have big contracts they can use as trade chips if the right opportunity arises.

And with extension-eligible guys like Anthony Davis potentially asking out of their current teams, Curry might be better off waiting before signing a new deal with his beloved Warriors.
