More than 400 Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims are reported missing in this disaster, which includes 133 Indian citizens and 265 Chinese citizens. Apart from this, more than 80 security personnel are also missing in various areas.

The impact of the deluge was most visible in districts like Nuwakot, Chitwan, Gorkha, Tanahun and Nawalparasi East. In the terrible flood, 22 concrete bridges have collapsed and 42 km long roads have been washed away. The immigration office located on the Tibet border has also been completely destroyed due to the strong flow of water. There is a severe power crisis across Nepal due to heavy damage to about a dozen hydropower projects.

This horrific natural disaster in Nepal has started affecting the border areas of Uttar Pradesh as well. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the UP government has issued a high alert in Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts. For the safety of Indian citizens stranded in Nepal and to help their families, the Relief Commissioner's Office has issued a toll-free helpline number 1070, through which emergency assistance is being provided.
