Como are enjoying Martin Baturina’s strong start to the season after rejecting a €55m bid from Aston Villa last summer: the Croat has already contributed to five goals in four games across all competitions.
Baturina was UEFA’s MOTM in Como’s 4-1 win over RB Leipzig last night, leaving his mark in his club’s first-ever Champions League match with one goal and one assist.
Baturina opened the account in the 15th minute, scoring Como’s first-ever goal in the Champions League, and then assisted Anastasios Douvikas to double the Azzurri’s lead in the 38th minute.
Baturina has just begun his second season at Como, starting all four of Lariani’s games so far: three in Serie A and one in the Champions League.
The 23-year-old already attracted interest from Premier League clubs last summer, but Como were unwilling to sell him for less than €80m, as TMW reports.
The same source claims Aston Villa offered €55m during the summer transfer window, but Cesc Fabregas’ side quickly turned it down.
Baturina wasn’t an immediate starter for Como last season, but ultimately became a regular in Fabregas’ XI and collected eight goals and four assists in 34 games across all competitions.
During the opening four games of the 2026-27 campaign, Baturina has already grabbed three goals and two assists.
