A woman has allegedly duped an Aam Aadmi Party leader by posing as a PCS officer before marriage and later leaving with jewellery and other valuables. The allegations emerged months after the wedding, following which police registered a case against six people.
The AAP leader has alleged that the woman and her family misrepresented her professional and personal details before the marriage.
According to the complaint, the woman and her family introduced her as a PCS officer and told the AAP leader that she was unmarried. He also alleged that her age was misrepresented.
The AAP leader married Manwinder Kaur in February 2026. The wedding was attended by several prominent AAP leaders and public representatives, including Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saundh.
He later allegedly gathered information about Kaur and claimed that she had previously been married and divorced.
The complainant further alleged that Kaur has an 18-year-old son and that these details were not disclosed to him before the marriage.
He has claimed that he was persuaded to enter the marriage on the basis of a false identity and misleading information about her age, marital status and professional background.
These allegations are part of the complaint and are currently being investigated by the police.
The AAP leader has also alleged that Kaur left the house after the marriage with gold and silver jewellery and other valuables.
He claimed that the alleged deception and removal of valuables came to light after he began verifying information about her background.
Following the complaint, police registered a case of cheating and forgery against six people, including Manwinder Kaur.
The other accused named in the FIR are Kaur’s brother Tarlochan Singh, mother Varinderjit Kaur, cousin Narinder Singh Goldy, sister-in-law Rupinder Kaur and former village sarpanch Surinder Singh Rana.
Police said all six accused are residents of village Sur Singh under the Bhikhiwind police station area of Tarn Taran district.
The case has attracted attention because several AAP leaders and elected representatives attended the February 2026 wedding.
Photographs and videos from the ceremony had also surfaced on social media, showing political leaders celebrating with the couple and participating in bhangra.
The complainant is also a Zila Parishad member and chairman of Market Committee Sirhind.
The allegations have emerged months after the wedding, with police now investigating the complaint and the charges against the six named accused.
The allegations against the woman and the other accused have not been established in court. The police investigation is expected to establish the facts surrounding the alleged identity, marriage and valuables.
